“Nadd” came into realisation with the intention of closely looking at an object entrenched in tradition. We did not set out to invent, but rather to innovate a cultural cue to fit a contemporary environment.

Functionality is paramount; looking into decade’s worth of artisanal incense burners has informed main aspects of the design. The inclusion of a handle and the allowance of sufficient air circulation was a direct result of that. As part of LOCI’s ethos, we have used the latest in design technology tools to achieve our goals. Using parametric software, the traditional Islamic hexagon was reimagined into a contemporary design that remains culturally relevant.
